What Are Your Numbers?

This post will be an eye opener.  Most of you probably ventured here looking on how to get out of the rat race.  Well truth be told, some say I’m still in it.  I highly disagree.  You see, I’m working a 9-5 job.  My health insurance is paid for, I punch in (so to say) from 9 to 5pm and answer to a boss.  The main difference with my job is it accounts for only 1/4 of my income.  I’ve questioned myself multiple times already on why I’m still there.  The bottom line is they need me.  I’m a Certified Google Adwords Professional and oversee over $750,000 dollars in online advertising with them.  I built and manage around 10 websites, conduct A/B landing page testing scenarios, optimize keyphrases with on page SEO as well as off page SEO.  They pay ok, but many times I’ve wondered why not leave?  Leave and simply find a few more clients.

The chances are high that most people plan their resignation much like myself.  They work in a ‘cubicle farm‘ staring at a screen for hours on end.  Then what happens?  They think to themselves, “How much will it take for me to leave this job?”.  I’m no different.  I’ve wondered the same.  I’d guess over 75% have.  Noone wants to be a ‘phone monkey‘ or answer to the boss. Everyone wants to be the boss.

The difference is action. I decided about 9 months ago to take action.  Actively launching my career into web design and online marketing.   The work was so good (and I’m not bragging but its only on par in my opinion) I started receiving a ton of referrals for work.  From there its where I seperated myself from my employer, at least the mindset, and started treating them as if they were just another client.

I’ll show you the tips, the work, the strategy involved with escaping the 9-5 mindset.  The resources I used and still use to gain an upper hand in my career and how you can too.  It doesn’t matter if you don’t know or even want to learn online marketing, you can apply this to all walks of life.  Its your niche.  You decide on what to do with it.

Another Round of Layoffs, Do You Feel Safe

CItigroup just announced 50,000 layoffs today.  Of those 50k I wonder who had the opportunity to change their life while they were there.  I wonder if any of them decided to venture into the path thats normally left behind. One that leads to fear, uncertainty, and doubt.

Are you safe? Do you feel safe?  If you’re reading this post wondering if you’re going to wake up tomorrow to find out if you’ve got pink slip waiting, then nows the time to act.  You see, while you’re wondering if you still have a job, I’m looking at my list of clients deciding on whats the best route to take to make their site stand out from the rest.  I’m trying to figure out what site we should target, call, and ask to place a link on their site to my clients.

What I do is not rocket science. In fact, I can point you to multiple ebooks to read to learn exactly what I do.  Once you’ve learned the latest and greatest techniques and strategies, you too can be successful in online marketing.  You won’t have to go to sleep wondering if you have enough money in your account to pay the bills.  I’m by no means rich. But everyone’s definition of rich is different.  For myself, it means not worrying about a 9-5 job.  Knowing I make over 3/4 of my income from clients and not from my ‘employer’ means I don’t have to worry about missing a mortgage payment.

Whats your goal?  Thats a broad question. But lets take it a step further.  What does it feel like to be safe? What will it take, financially, to make you feel safe?  Thats the question you need to ask yourself, and answer, until the next post.

Theres no other way to say it….

….this is the blogs first post.  I think every blog has that sentence in it somewhere.  Well truth be told, its not my first.  I have two other blogs that I update and write for all the time.  They are my marketing blogs. Updating my visitors and existing clients with whats going on in the world of online marketing.

I won’t dive into details on this one post with anything specific.  I will tell you now this post can save as a reference in the future.  My post (at least my goals are) to not provide short post.  What good does a two paragraph post on a blog thats supposed to show you how to stop working for corporate America and make yourself a healthy living as a marketing professional or web designer.

You see, by day (and by night) I’m a marketing professional.  I create websites, market them for my clients and they succeed in their line of work.  Some people may call me a web designer or webmaster.  The truth is both are correct and both are really far from the truth.  I’m a jack of all trades, a master of none, some might say.  I’ve said it myself actually.  But the bottom line is a create sites, rank them well, and drive traffic to them through SEO or some other form of online marketing.

I’m going to show you through this blog exactly how you can escape the rat race and stop working for corporate America.  I’ll show you how to stop working for the worst boss you’ve ever known and start making really money for yourself.  Build relationships with your clients, receive referrals, build a sales team and make alot of money that does one thing.  Lets you live the life you want to live.
